Koraspeaks attends 15th Annual Infant Mortality Awareness Scholarship Luncheon
Family Solutions of the Low Country has been working to reduce the number of babies that pass away before they ever have a chance at life. September is recognized as Infant Mortality Awareness Month. Every year, the organization host a luncheon to raise awareness of the main factors that claim infant lives annually and how many can change the statistics.
The luncheon is held to raise money for program participant scholarships to institutions of higher learning. It occurred at the Edisto Fork United Methodist Church in Orangeburg, SC. The event was hosted by Brandy Henshaw, a well-known host, and radio personality.
Graham Adams, SC Office of Rural Health CEO, greeted everyone with a welcome, and Lamikka Samuel Director, Family Solutions gave the occasion of the event. A nice meal was served and an invocation was given by Pastor Barbara Patterson.
Henshaw, led the introduction of the panelist. Arialle Kennedy Smith, founder of Momma Magnolia (Holistic Doula), Megan White Millhouse, Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP-FNP) and Tameca Wilson Director Maternal Infant Health March of Dimes. All three women gave insight on the roles within health and infant care.
The 16th annual scholarship luncheon is scheduled to be on September 8, 2023.
