5 ways to start 2019 off right!

Happy New Year!~

Welcome to Koraspeaks. Please subscribe & tell a friend.

It may take some time to get used to writing and typing 2019 as it was just 2018 about a week ago (-cues Bobby Shmurda).

Every year this can be a minor challenge.

*Here are 5 tips to take with you in the new year!

1.)    Show Kindness all January.

Let’s set the tone for 2019 by starting January off the right way.

According to timeanddate.com

January is the first month of the year in the Gregorian calendar.

January is also Janus’ Month. It was named after the Roman god of doors, Janus, because this month is the door to the year.

It represents all beginnings and possesses the ability to see all things past and future.

With 31 days in the month of January, make the effort to express kindness.

Show YOURSELF kindness all month long. Practice this all month & watch it become a great habit.

When you wake up each morning, pray, and speak a positive affirmation over your life. (1 a day) This will set the tone for the day.

Everyday won’t be amazing but by doing this small thing it can definitely keep your attitude in perspective.

Show kindness to others throughout your day.

If you are at work, greet someone with a Smile and ask them how they are doing.

·         Perhaps give a compliment,

·         Hold the door for someone

·         Listen to them if they are holding a conversation with you

Make the effort to be kind.

 By doing this you set the tone for your day and how you will feel about yourself.  {Put it into Practice}

2.) Don’t LOOK back.

Don’t look back you’re not going that way!

This indeed is a true statement. It is important to look UP & see the glass half full.

Don’t focus on past mistakes, learn from them and allow yourself to GROW.

Count all the Blessings victories & the challenges you faced in 2018 and apply what you’ve learned to your future.

If you’ve learned a better way to do something, TRY that.

`Make each day count. Every morning you are given to be here on earth, is an absolute blessing & your second chance to seek what you want in this life.

We can’t do anything about yesterday, but we do have control of our today and our tomorrow.

3.) Show Gratitude.

Perhaps write down some of your positive moments of 2018 & allow these victories, whether big or small, to motivate you for what is to come.

Go to an art supply store (like Hobby Lobby, A.C. Moore, Dollar Tree, Walmart, A.C. or Michael’s) & purchase a box.

A mini box that you can put positive affirmations in or happy self-love notes.

(If this does not interest you perhaps utilizing the box to put tiny notes of gratitude inside.)

A grateful box would be awesome because it would hold you accountable and cause you to really value what you had and have accomplished.

It will cause you to really accept what has been and give you a sense of direction for your future.

All of the bad things that have happened will become quite pale in comparison to all that you are and will reach!

Be spontaneous with this assignment. Use colorful markers, pens and sticky notes or index cards.

Be colorful.

4.)  Get a planner!

At one of the stores mentioned above, purchase a planner.

Use it as a guide for all your daily activities, weekly and monthly goals.

It is best to break your goals down to allow them to become reachable.

Just start, remain consistent and soon you will reach that goal.

A planner can also allow you to become organized.

If you are busy with the following: working, school, church, community activism, fitness life then a planner is a must!

Writing down your daily activities and crossing each one off as you have completed them can reduce stress and forgetfulness.

It is hard to juggle many things at once but a planner or even a reminder on your cell phone.

5.) Try something new!

This is something that should be done often.

Whether it’s a new restaurant, new store, new hairstyle.

be Bold and switch it UP.

As Chris Brown said, “Switch up the Tempo.”

You don’t have to make any drastic changes either, start slow.

I tried an Oyster for the first time on January 5.

I was out celebrating a friend’s birthday & she encouraged me to try it.

The plate was beautifully decorated with lemons ice and steamed oysters.

The oysters were inside the clam shells.

I’d seen pictures before but never any up close.

Honestly, it’s an acquired taste not necessarily my fave but I’m proud that I had the courage to try it!

Trying new things broadens your horizon.

It also opens a dialogue for friendly conversation.

I hope the tips provided above will give you some encouragement to kick off 2019.

I declare that 2019 will be an amazing year for us all.
